Empathy Engineered: Designing for Impact
In September 2023, the Defining Humanity team was invited by AIA Illinois to present at the Early Professionals (EP) Summit in Evanston. The EP Summit is an annual event geared towards early professionals and young architects from across Illinois and consists of keynotes, educational sessions, and networking opportunities.
Yash, Bruno and Taruna, crafted “Empathy Engineered: Crafting Compassionate Spaces”, with a focus on social impact of our work as designers. With a room full of young designers, the goal was to engage in conversations on how being intentional and empathetic in our designs can lead to meaningful transformation. The young designers are the future impact makers in our communities.
In a world where technology continues to shape our lives, Defining Humanity stands at the crossroads of innovation and compassion. We harness the prowess of technological advances to address pressing societal challenges, pioneering solutions for those who need them most. picture shelters molded from shipping containers, schools in Africa 3D-printed in a mere 18 hours, and an entire campus emerging in Madagascar.
Through this session we explored the nexus of technology and humanity. We showcased how cutting-edge innovations, when guided by empathy and vision, can pave the path for a brighter, more equitable future.
